This past weekend I had the opportunity to go to Arches National Park for the FIRST TIME! I was super excited and I absolutely love Moab. Of course I loved the hike, the sun, the nature. Delicate Arch was gorgeous. But there was one thing that really made me smile. As we were coming back from looking at the Arch and relaxing near it, I noticed a little boy and girl in front of me. There were a few rocks we had to "climb" over to get back to the main trail. The little boy was already on the top, but the little girl was getting up onto the rock. What I noticed was that the little boy put out his hand to help out the little girl. I assumed they were brother and sister. This simple moment that I noticed brightened my day. I believe the little girl got up fine without his help, but the fact that his hand was there is what counted. These simple things in life are noticed. It makes me realize that what I do will be noticed, so I better be good.
Another example was when we stopped at the gas station. I was coming out of the bathroom when I notice the lady in line held the door for an older woman to get out. As another woman walked in, the lady mentioned that there was a line (she being the next person) and the woman apologized. But then the same woman asked this lady if she could go first because she had dogs waiting in the car. The lady yet again being kind, said sure because she also has dogs (so I guess she could relate to the woman). It wasn't anything extraordinary, but I noticed.
Moments like these make me realize that I skip out on a lot of little opportunities that could help someone out. Life is hard enough, why not help other people so they can have an easier time. Who knows, you might make someone's day or you might just get noticed.
