Chapter 42: Valentine's Day 2014 :)

I think Valentine's Day might be my second favorite holiday (Fourth of July being the first).  Many people tend to dislike the holiday because of various reasons, but I think we should embrace the day.

It's all about Love.

I understand that sometimes it's sad to be single and not have someone to buy you flowers or take you out to a nice dinner.  But is that really the most important thing?  Sure I would love to spend time with someone I cared about.  Sure I would love to get flowers. But I don't find it necessary to enjoy a holiday.

I actually really like being single on Valentine's Day.  And this year I'm glad I was.  I ended up doing a lot of things that I love.

-I went to work.  I really do love my job.  I was super happy to see the students and talk to my coworkers.
-I helped a friend with a research study.  And it was interesting.
-I went for a run.  That was probably the best decision I made.
-I dyed my hair.  It might sound lame, but I like switching up my hair color once in awhile.
-I delivered Valentine's.  Who wouldn't want to spread joy?  I want other people to feel loved and be happy.
-I played the piano.  And I bought new piano music.  Oh, and I sang.  I love music.
-I face timed with my sister who lives in Boston.  It was really nice to talk to her, see her, and catch up.  Plus her husband was out of town.  I'm sure it's not fun to spend Valentine's without your significant other.

I definitely made good use of my day.  I didn't feel obligated to do anything.  I just did what I wanted to do.

I think it's important to remember what the day is about: Love.  And not just romantic love.

It's about the love of the life you have and the world you live in. :)
